Description
Classic dry white wine with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO).
The name “Egri Csillag” (Star of Eger), is used in the Eger Wine Region – the same way as Bulls Blood – as a communal brand title.
The wine’s origin is protected, and thus according to regional regulations must be made of at least four varieties. Half of the ingredients must be Carpathian Basin varieties, and the wine must not include more than of 30% Muscat.
Beyond adhering to the regulations, Vilmos Thummerer aimed to create a wine that is characteristic not only of the wine region but also of the Thummerer Winery style. This is the reason why Királyleányka (Little Princess) and Leányka (Little Lady) varieties make up 50% of the wine.
In addition to focusing on the characteristics of the aroma, they also aimed to create increasingly flavourful and colourful attributes to enhance the body. This is where the second half is chosen to be made up of Sauvignon Blanc, Tramini and Zenit varieties.
Due to the reductive fermentation process and steel tanks ageing, the wine retained intensive aromas, and resulted in rich intrinsic values and complex wine character.
Greenish colour with a crisp scents of a blossoming spring field. The Tramini and Zenit brings body to the wine, while the Királyleányka lends nice acids. It is a wine with a pleasant, and long finish.
Recommended to drink with poultry white meat, fish and meals made with asparagus. It may also go well with steamed asparagus with hollandaise sauce. To be consumed at 9-10°C.
Alc: 13%
Acid: 5,3 g/l.
