Hobor Urmos Bor includes 16 types of PDO and or PGI certified herbs. Based on entirely unique recipe of Jozsef Hobor, he carefully selected 16 highly fragrant, and medicinal / beneficial herbs to make this wine. He then soaks these herbs in Italian Riesling (Welschriesling) base wine.
PDO is the highest and strictest category, where every step of the growing, cultivation, as well as production must take place in a certain location.
PGI category refers to products within the EU, where the geographical origin plays a crucial part in a specific quality, or characteristics, or reputation of that product. PGI also means that at least one phase of the production process must take place at that given location / area. This can be either the growing, or the drying, or the processing. This specific geographical are in this case is at the south-West slopes of St Gyorgy (Set George) hill of the Badacsony wine region.
Specialty Herbal Wine
The 16 PDO or PGI certified herbs in this wine, include: Cinnamon, Cloves, peppermint, spearmint, mint leaf tea, wormwood herb, vanilla sticks, etc. Throughout the careful processing, the winemaker strives to preserve all the delicate fragrances, and herbal / medicinal benefits of each herb. This results in a wine where all 16 Essential oils can be found and detected.
Both Hobor Urmos Bor (herbal) as well as Hobor Bodzas Bor (d=elderflower) has seen incredible popularity locally and internationally. Hence Hobor winery have patented this unique wine making technique. Hobor’s special touch in this unique wine making process has therefore now been protected by Intellectual Property Rights. Jozsef Hobor, the winemaker takes great pride in having developed his own innovative technique. Especially how he could bring and add additional herbal / medicinal values to traditional wine making processes. He has vast knowledge of many other local, traditional herbs, and he is certainly not afraid of trying new ways.
Hóbor Ürmös Bor has calming effect on the stomach, and many other health benefits, that each individual herb lends to the wine.
This wine goes particularly well with highly fragrant, freshly made, warm Transylvanian chimney cake.
