Description
Balla Géza Királyleányka is a medium bodied, dry white wine from Minis, Transylvania, Romania. Kiralyleanyka is translated as ‘Little Princess’ in English, and ‘Feteasca Regala’ in Romanian. This variety is also known as the Royal Maiden grape.
The grapes have been hand picked from a single vineyard in Minis (Ménes in Hungarian). The berries were then fermented using native yeast. Large, used barrels were carefully chosen for the barrel ageing. This process not only gives the wine texture, and a smooth buttery finish, but it also allows for the fruity aromas to preserve and develop nicely. The result is a silky, pleasant white wine, that is fruity, and creamy at the same time.
Balla Géza Királyleányka
This wine shines through the glass with a golden hue. It leads with yellow fruits such as peach, pear, crisp apple, citrus and a distinct gooseberry finish. Additionally, a pronounced buttercream layer is also present on the palate, to soften and balance the acidity.
A touch of vegetal notes, and its medium, but crisp acidity it forms a great food partner for lighter meats, and vegetarian dishes. In particular, Balla Géza Királyleányka is highly recommended to accompany grilled chicken, game, or seafood dishes. However it will also pair beautifully with vegetarian dishes such as butternut squash, roasted greens, or sautéed mushrooms or asparagus.
