Superior Bulls Blood is only produced in outstanding vintages. This multi awarded wine is among the top category of Bulls Bloods / Bikavér at Thummerer Winery.
It has been an exceptional vintage in Hungary, especially for red wines. Hot summer, then long, warm & sunny autumn, sufficient precipitation and ideal circumstances for an excellent harvest, with high sugar levels.
It is made using the following varieties: Kékfrankos being the base wine, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah. This blend resulted in a nice and round, full bodied red, with forest berries, peppers and earthy aromas on the nose, complemented by dark fruits, forest floor & beautiful oak on the palate. A superb blend for serious wine fans.
This Bulls Blood has been traditionally barrel aged for 18 months, followed by a lengthy bottle ageing.
Thummerer Bikavér Superior will form perfect harmony with traditional wild game, or beef dishes such as grilled steak with potato strudel.
It is best consumed at 16-18°C.
